I believe most of you would prefer a forum setting rather than a blog, where you can post comments to your heart's delight without a moderator watching your language, deleting your comments or holding you back in any way.
Tampines Court has had a yahoo group (an old MC inititive) up and running for a few years but has been quiet for some time now. I believe some unmoderated discussion did go on between owners before the sale (I was alerted to this by a reference made by the enbloc lawyer at the 21 April 2007 dialogue session). You can go there, inject some life back into it and say all that you want to say.

I want to keep my blog for posting information, facts and news ABOUT ENBLOC, (past, present and future) and for comments that are relevant, reasonable and rational.
I want to keep my blog for posting information, facts and news ABOUT ENBLOC, (past, present and future) and for comments that are relevant, reasonable and rational.
.
I am NOT going to post about the new Management council, maintenance matters, lift matters, sinking fund matters etc. I am NOT going to post comments on those matters either. It is not the purview of this blog. Please comment on the forum page above.
.
Neither shall I delete the blog as there is a lot of information in here that can be touched upon later, should a new enbloc rear it's head in our estate.
.
How active this blog remains depends on what things pop up in the meantime. I have only posted one thing since the announcement in the newspaper (bar this post). The last week has been hell with the deluge of repetitive, irrational, abusive and sometimes vitriolic comments coming in. I feel the blog is in danger of becoming a nasty battleground and that I am in the middle - and people expect me to be so neutral that I am willing to sacrifice all that I have strived to do over the past year and convert this blog into an unmoderated forum. I woke up Saturday morning and said to myself "I will not do it!" and deleted most of the comments leaving only a representation of what people said. I make no apologies for that, there are other avenues where you can opine unfettered and I have pointed out one such avenue above.
.
I will probably continue tracking other enblocs, highlight new pitfalls , mull over new STB/ High Court decisions, and update on the old ones still caught up in the process (Horizon Towers, Gillman Heights, Airview Towers etc).
.
I shall definitely educate myself, and who ever wants to come along for the ride, on the NEW RULES that will apply to TC.
.
As the old Boy scouts motto says "Be prepared!"

There was a new forum site that was activated a few dayas ago. Has it been deleted and if not what is the site,
ReplyDeleteYour blog was very interested until now. Is it dead ?
ReplyDeleteIf you want to start a forum please start a proper one else you are only speaking to the same old minority few or to yourself.
Re: there was a new forum..
ReplyDeleteI will leave it to the new MC to set up a website for resident information.
Re: your blog...
ReplyDeleteThe enbloc of Tampines Court is over. The blog has served it's purpose and that was to put out the bald facts as I knew them for whoever wanted to read them.
As for speaking only to the minority .... well, the majority were also reading my blog as it was the sole source of information to what was happening in the latter part of the process. The majority were being informed by a minority owner. Sad but true.
There is nothing much left to say.
The tail-ends of the saga will trickle in.
eg:
1)the STB awarded costs (which is very unusual). They are still being negotiated. How much will they be and who will pay them?
2)Will the caveats be removed? How is this to be done?
3)Have the majority been officially informed or was it left to the newspaper?
4) Who will remove the For Sale signboard and when?
I have decided I don't want to start a forum where I am in the middle. It is not a nice position to be in.
But if enbloc does rear it's head again - I will be here, this blog will still be here, every step will be followed, analysed, picked apart and broadcasted. Just like the song...
Every breath you take
And every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you
Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
Ill be watching you
I think it's best you removed this blog althogether. It serves nothing but caused more division than unity. What information are you taking about that benefits everyone at large. You only post what is sweet to your ears. And your song is provocative for a start to challenge the majority.
ReplyDeleteI can sense you are concern that enbloc will start again. Well I am certain it will. This time your opposition will be wiser. So sleep well while you still can.
RE: I think it is best..
ReplyDeleteI am not too concerned about a new en bloc. People have been burned and the next round when it comes, with the new rules, will be infinitely harder.
No doubt any new RP will offer the moon but deliver zilch (I have just seen a CSA which ties the owners into a sneaky opt-out clause when it comes to accepting a lower RP - the inventivness of legal duping continues.....).
Hopefully people all round will be a lot smarter and less trusting and challenge the CSA vigorously before signing their lives away.
Remember, this en bloc was thrown out on two very serious counts of bad faith. When the written decision is out, it will be posted here for everyone to read , weep and learn.
The opposition need not strive to be wiser or smarter or trickier - all that is required of them is that they be honest, transparent and trustworthy.
Shut myself down? I think I will stick around. Sorry
I'm new to this blog and an ex-majority owner, and sad to say, itshometome is right that a lot of information about the en bloc has been obtained right here on this blog and not from our sales committee. I wished our committee had done a more responsible job.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the information that itshometome has put up so far and I respect her position as well. And as such I don't think its right to suggest this blog be taken down because it has caused division. EVERY en bloc causes division. This is a personal blog, not a forum so to me posters here are more like guests to a host rather than participants.
Looking forward, I am also hoping for another en bloc as I feel its the best thing for the long term for an old estate. I have a question for itshometome, however. Will you still oppose the next en bloc, even if the price offered is good?
Re: I'm new to this blog...
ReplyDeleteThank you for understanding the difference between a blog and a forum. The enbloc/anti-enbloc title was more for tagging purposes when doing a google search than anything else. Information takes no sides, facts are facts. My own analysis is always open to criticism and I accept that.
Will I still oppose enbloc if the price is good?
The reserve price might look good at the outset but the devil is in the details ... in the CSA to be precise. I will pick through that document word by word and if it is clean, then it is clean.
Will I sign?
No. I will never close my option to object at the STB. Things may look ok at the beginning, but it's the end that really matters. The tendering, the private treaty (I stroingly oppose private treaties) the shenanigans that can go on before the signing of the S&P etc...
Will I oppose for the sake of opposing (ie, am I a serial opposer:)?
No.
If I feel everything is above board, that the SC has been elected correctly, that information is not being handed out selectively (eg. minority owners from this enbloc might be left out of the loop in the next) that the signature collection is done ethically, that people are not walking away with nothing but a partial refund to their CPF accounts (yes, so many had NO CASH, MASSIVE CPF HOLES), that the price is an enbloc price and not 'market value', or a 1-for-1 exchange (the best option of all), then I will not oppose.
But I will never sign.
