I don't think I can stand 31 more days of this never-ending thrashing of Tampines Court.
I suspect many of the contributors are property agents because of the similarity in language with their 'un's', ''dun's, and 'pple's. They delight in talking down the estate. Thank you very much but I do not live in a slum, and I am not surrounded by foreign workers. It is very peaceful and quiet in my corner of the estate and I am surrounded by greenery, being only on the 2nd level. My home is large and airy and there is plenty of room inside for 33yrs of accumulated stuff.
* I don't want to wade into the replacement issue here - this is a huge topic and needs more careful research than just a quick glance at PropertyGuru. There are many options out there with the present RP - it all depends on your preferences and priorities. My priority happens to be space, a balcony, greenery and not in Tuas.
I am sure there are 1000 other reasons to sign/not to sign - we all have out reasons and some are more valid than others - eg the lady who said her 85yr old mother can't handle the stairs up to their walk-up apt has a valid reason to sign. The person who says that units are overcrowded with tenants does not have a valid reason, because the solution is to call the URA and get it cleared.
No one is obliged to reveal their reasons to anyone, you do not need to defend your point of view. The minority have a Statutory Right not to sign however irksome it may be to the majority.
The pros & cons of enbloc are not the focus of this blog - sometimes even I lose my bearings - but the process is, the twists and turns and the actions/inaction of the sale committee as they are at the very centre and ultimately accountable to everyone.

Amen to this post. & pro enbloc peep will bring their tank and machine guns after seeing this post
ReplyDeleteYour comparision is out of context, especially the tenure you used is freehold and the amount you are willing to pay is only 1.3m. Using property guru as you did, I did a search and found out with only 1.5m I can get a 1743sf (TOP 2016) and 1796 sf (TOP 2013) and both are 4 bedrooms ! Lots of space for your cats too. If the enbloc is successful you can pay up in full and still have alot of cash to spare. TC is already more than 30 years old ! I would prefer to cash out and move to a newer & much younger condo with full facilities rather than stay put with so much maintenance problems and who knows how much I need to fork out for upgrading. No thks! I prefer to go for enbloc and take the cash & run.
ReplyDeleteHi blog owner, reading your post, I understand where you come from.
ReplyDeleteMy parents live alone in TC and they don't want to move either due to the same reasons as you. However, I am convincing them to sign for other more economic reasons. If I wasn't around, they will definitely not sign.
Also given that it is a 75/25 ratio, I guess you might expect also pro and anti posts of 72/25 ratio. It is not unexpected to have these posts since this is a very important issue for everyone. But the arguments on this blog will not change minds.
I don't think it's agent but pro-enbloc SPs giving their view. That's why I invited anti-enbloc SPs to share their opinions too so we can all make a more informed decision. No need so work up as by next weelk I think its all over if we cannot get 80% signature.
ReplyDeleteOnce the arguments are like those on this blog (starting from gentleman, then start pulling each others hair, and now throwing mud at each other), it is time to stop it all. There is a cooling down period for elections and a grace period for signing.
ReplyDeleteI suggest to the blog owner to end all the comments. There is nothing more worth commenting about. We have all heard the pros and cons of enbloc.
I think it's alright to share opinions here so long as we don't get personal or use vulgarity. All forums ate like that. Anyway the correct place to share is TC FB but since no one want to do that, I guess everyone comes here. Just keep cool guys !
